| Maker Comments | Sao Tomé and Principe is an island nation in the Gulf of Guinea off Africa. Cocoa was brought here in the late 1800s, the first to reach Africa. The historic Uba Budo plantation is in the Água Grande region and has a reputation for high quality. Normally forastero is seen more as a bulk cocoa but the best Sao Tomé beans have long been considered rather special. Immediate flavour burst of red fruit with later tones of spices and wood. Leaves a fresh finish. |
