It is a trinitario-type cacao grown in the Barlovento area of Venezuela. It has notes of dried figs, raisins and cashews with great character, smoothness and finish.
Since 1840, this trinitario-type cocoa has been cultivated in our plantation Hacienda San José, Venezuela. We cultivate about ten varietals of extraordinary criollo-type cocoa that make our plantation the cradle of the finest cocoa in the world. Carupano is the historic name of cocoa from the eastern part of Venezuela. It reveals aromatic notes of nuts, black pepper, woods and vanilla. It has a low acidity, a nice smoothness and a very long finish.
