 Break The Wave

Definition:

Version #1 (author unknown). From a wave: All drop hands and turn back in place to face in the opposite direction. Finishes in a wave with dancers facing opposite to original direction. Right hand waves become left hand, etc.

COMMENT: Use "U-Turn Back and make a new Wave." See also Reverse the Wave, Version #1.

Version #2 (Gene Knutson - 1968). From a wave: Dancers do a Half Square Thru without hands. Finishes with pairs back to back.

COMMENT: Use either "Half Square thru" or "Explode the Wave."

Version #3 (Mike Driscoll - 1970). From a wave: Adjacent dancers on each end ("neighbors") turn to face each other. If started with two parallel waves, finishes in eight chain thru formation.

COMMENT: Counterpart of "Break the Line, Version #2." This call might possibly be useful if the other two versions of Break the Wave were made obsolete.

Gene Knutson and Mike Driscoll 1968-70
