From Trade By or Double Pass Thru formation: Outside couples do a Partner Hinge. The inside four star right one quarter as the outsides arm turn half (Trade). Those who can left arm turn 3/4 as the others move up to the ends of waves. Finishes in parallel waves.

 Alter The Gears 

Definition:
 

From parallel waves: All arm turn half, new centers arm turn 3/4 as the ends do a U-turn back. Centers of the wave across the set Trade and then form four hand left hand stars to turn exactly half. Trailing dancer takes the hand of the person in front to "push" that person into the center of new waves as they themselves moves into the end positions. Finishes in parallel waves. NOTE: Same as Alter and Circulate but without the Ends Circulate.

From lines, waves or two faced lines: Half Tag the Line then all arm turn 3/4, step thru and walk forward into completed double pass thru formation (i.e., "Complete Your Tag" after the arm turn) to take the next call (In, Out, Right, Left or Zig Zag).

 Alter The Yo Yo 

Definition:
 

From eight chain thru formation or parallel waves: From eight chain thru formation first step up into parallel waves. All arm swing 3/4, new centers now arm turn 3/4 as the ends U-turn back. Form two four hands stars and turn each star half. Centers (who did the 3/4 arm turn) take the hand of the one in front to "push" that one into the center of new waves as they themselves move into the end positions. Finishes in parallel waves.

 Flare The Diamond 

Definition:
 

From a wave or two faced line: Ends roll out in a small loop full around (i.e., "Flare") as centers arm turn 3/4. All now do a Diamond Circulate (wave formation creates "facing" diamonds and two faced lines create "regular" diamond) and the points Flare while the centers arm turn 3/4. Right hand waves finish as left hand waves (and vice versa). Two faced lines finish as two faced lines.

From a completed DPT: Leaders start a Chase Right movement but end as the #1 and #2 positions in a column, trailing beau follows lead beau to take the #3 position while the trailing belle Veers left and follows the trailing beau to take the #4 position.

Version #1

From two dancers facing: Pass right shoulders then solo left face turn to face the other dancer. Finishes with two dancers facing (Equivalent to Pass Thru then U-turn back). (Ross Crispino 1964)

Version #2

From Trade By formation: Those facing in do a Pass Thru while those facing out roll right to form a wave with the ones who did the Pass Thru. Finishes in parallel waves. (Chuck Peel 1972)

Version #3

From facing pairs: Rollaway, then the right hand person (Belle) passes right shoulders with other Belle to stand beside the opposite Beau. Finishes in a box formation. (Sparky Carlton 1975)

From facing couples: Make a right hand star 3/4. Beaux of each couple, holding the right hand of the dancer in front, pull that front dancer into the center of a wave. Finishes in a right hand wave.

From Trade By formation: Centers Turn Thru as those facing out do a sidestep (Dodge) to the right. Centers join the outsides in lines of four facing out.
