Boot Scoot 'N Boogie
SCVSDA Notes - April 1994
From parallel lines/waves: Centers Kickoff [i.e. Run and Roll ends Face In and step into runners spot] and new centers Touch [Boot], Scoot Back [Scoot], Outsides Face Right and promenade around 1/4 [Counter Rotate] as wave dancers Fan the Top [Boogie].
Another extension of Cast a Shadow. From parallel waves: The lead end dancers cast back, half sashay (nose to nose) and then arm turn 3/4 and spread. The leading centers dancer shadows partner but steps into the farthest center spot while the trailing centers step ahead, do a half sashay and Single Hinge to step forward into the vacant spot in an ocean wave.
From formations with centers and outsides or ends: Outsides do the first portion of the first named call as the centers do the first portion of the second named call; when dancers MATCH their formation, all finish their call together. Calls selected to Mix and Match must have the characteristic that they finish the same way; e.g. Mix & Match Relay the Top & Linear Action.
From parallel waves or eight chain thru: Pass Thru (or step thru from a wave). Those in the center Turn Thru and those facing out Roll Right. All now Pass Thru, new centers Pass Thru, those facing out Cross Cast Back and arm turn the trailer half and new centers Trade. Finishes in lines facing.
From four two-person mini waves: These waves are set up from parallel waves by having two mirror image pairs in each wave do a Single Hinge. The dancers in each mini wave do a Circulate as though they were in a four handed wave. Ends remain ends and centers remain centers. Finishes in four two-person mini waves.
From one quarter tag formation: All Scoot Back. Those in the center wave Trade the Wave and arm turn 3/4 then Box Counter Rotate. Those facing out Trail Off and walk ahead to meet a dancer from the other side to swing half by the right. Outside dancers now Fold. All now adjust slightly into parallel two faced lines.
