 Thread The Needle

Definition:

Version #1 (an older movement)

From a circle: Designated couple will go thru an arch made by the opposite couple, then release hands as the men go left and the girls go right and pull the lines thru until the opposite couple is facing out with arms crossed. Those who went thru the arch now pull the rest of the line under the next arches (made by the man and woman in the original arching couples and their corners' hands). This time the next two face out and so on until the leading couple makes an about face as the others with the hand crossed in front of the chest.

Version #2

From eight chain thru or double pass thru formation: Outside couples form an arch and the inside couple with the person on the right in the lead go thru the arch in single file, both turn right, first person go around one, second person around two to make facing lines. (Carl Gundlach 1963)
