OPENER    Basic

Honor your partner, honor your corner
Then you circle left, you circle round and round
Allemande left with the ol' left hand
A right to your honey and a right & left grand
A grand old right & left around the town
You dosado when you meet your honey, and then you promenade her
Promenade around, and when you're home you swing your lady
Oh you swing your pretty baby
She's the gal that you adore

FIGURE    Basic, no progression

Head couples promenade around the outside of that ring
Head ladies chain down the center, and then you chain them back again
Head ladies chain right, your right hand couples
And you chain them back again
Head ladies chain left, your left hand couples
And you chain them back again

MIDDLE BREAK    Basic

And now it's all around your left hand lady
Oh my, what a baby
See saw your pretty little taw
Cutest little pal you ever did saw
Now allemande left with the old left hand
A right to your honey and a right & left grand
Hand over hand around the ring
When you meet your partners, all 8 swing
Hold her tight and swing and whirl
Go round and round with the pretty little girl
Then promenade, go round the floor
And when you're home you swing some more
You swing your pretty baby
She's the gal that you adore

(Repeat figure with side couples working; repeat break; repeat figure with all 4 couples promenading around set, head ladies chaining across set and back, side ladies chaining across set and back, and all 4 ladies grand chaining across set and back; repeat break for closer)

Cue Sheet side B

FIGURE

The first ol' lady promenade the inside of that ring
Then hurry home and give your man a great big healthy swing
End your swing a-facin' out, the others fall in behind
Ladies go right, gents go left and you bring 'em down in a line
The first old couple dosado, you dosado your own
The second couple dosado, you dosado your own
The next old couple dosado, you dosado your own
Last old couple dosado, you dosado your own
Now everybody forward and back, I'll tell you the reason why
Forward again and pass thru there, then look her in the eye
Step right up and swing her home, you're swingin' mighty high
That's the way we do it down in Georgia

BREAK    Basic

Allemande left your corner, and a right hand round your own
Allemande left the corner again, around the ring you roam
When you meet your partner, boys, you balance with that girl
Then right & left, continue on, go all around the world
Meet your little southern belle, you twirl and promenade
Go home to your Magnolia tree and swing there in the shade
Now step right up and don't be shy, you swing 'em mighty high
'Cause that's the way we do it down in Georgia

(Repeat figure with second gent leading out; repeat break;
Reply the record with third lady and then fourth gent leading out)

Marching Through Georgia Lyrics ID: 1653

Bring the good old bugle, boys, we'll sing another song
Sing it with a spirit that will start the world along
Sing it as we used to sing it, 50,000 strong
While we were marching through Georgia.

Chorus
Hurrah! Hurrah! we bring the jubilee!
Hurrah! Hurrah! the flag that makes you free!
So we sang the chorus from Atlanta to the sea
While we were marching through Georgia.

How the darkies shouted when they heard the joyful sound
How the turkeys gobbled which our commissary found
How the sweet potatoes even started from the ground
While we were marching through Georgia.

Yes and there were Union men who wept with joyful tears,
When they saw the honored flag they had not seen for years;
Hardly could they be restrained from breaking forth in cheers,
While we were marching through Georgia.

"Sherman's dashing Yankee boys will never make the coast!"
So the saucy rebels said and 'twas a handsome boast
Had they not forgot, alas! to reckon with the Host
While we were marching through Georgia.

So we made a thoroughfare for freedom and her train,
Sixty miles of latitude, three hundred to the main;
Treason fled before us, for resistance was in vain
While we were marching through Georgia.

Lyrics by Henry Clay Work.
