OPENER    C4

Heads ready, grand parade
Joe Boudreaux left Breaux Bridge in the spring of forty-four
Joe, Pierre his partner and his cousin Robichaux
They crossed the 'Tchafalaya as they paddled their pirogue
Through the swamps and the bayous to the Town of Thibodaux
Where the bayous are windin', the crawfish they're findin'
South to Louisiana to the town of Thibodaux
Where the bayous are flowing, the crawfish they're growin'
South to Louisiana to the town of Thibodaux

FIGURE    C4, corner progression

1 & 3 curlique and boys run to the right
Curlique with the corner one, then walk & dodge tonight
Partner trade and a right & left thru and turn your girl and then
Pass the ocean, do a recycle friend
Allemande left with the corner, dosado your partner
Swing your corner and promenade her too
Where the bayous are flowing, the crawfish keep a-growin'
South to Louisiana to the town of Thibodaux

Go an allemande left with the corner, go forward 2 again
Go right & left and turn back one, turn corner with a right hand round
Forward 2 with a left and right and turn back one and then

South to Louisiana to the town of Thibodaux

CLOSER    C4

Heads ready, grand parade
Joe fell in love with a girl they called Maureen
She came from Opelousas to be crowned the Crawfish Queen
They sang and danced in Abbeville, did the same in Generet
Got married in the springtime, settled down in Lafayette
Where the crawfish are growing, the bayous are flowin'
South to Louisiana to the town of Thibodaux
Where the bayous are windin', the crawfish they're findin'
South to Louisiana to the town of Thibodaux

South To Louisiana  (1962)

Joe Boudreaux left Breaux Bridge in the spring of '44
With Jean-Pierre, his partner, and his cousin Robichaux
They crossed the Atchafalaya as they paddled their pirogue
Through the swamps and the bayous to the town of Thibodaux

They paddled through the marshlands and the swamps of Louisiane
With the handles of the hand-made oars making blisters in their hand
But they had to get to Thibodaux so they went on through the swamps
'Cause tonight they were taking their Cajun girls to a crawfish sauce piquante

Where the bayous are windin', the crawfish they're findin'
South to Louisiana to the town of Thibodaux
Where the bayous are flowing, big crawfish keep a-growin'
South to Louisiana to the town of Thibodaux

Then Joe fell in love with a girl they call Maureen
She came down from Opelousas to be crowned the Crawfish Queen
They danced and sang in Abbeville, did the same in Jeanerette
Got married in the springtime, settled down in Lafayette

Then Joe turned to Pierre with a crawfish in his hand
Said "Pierre, you're a-lookin' at a mighty hungry man"
"I'll take the crawfish by the neck and tear his tail like this"
"Then pass him on to little Maureen, let her make a crawfish bisque"

Where the bayous are windin', the crawfish they're findin'
South to Louisiana to the town of Thibodaux
Where the bayous are flowing, big crawfish keep a-growin'
South to Louisiana to the town of Thibodaux

Lyrics by Dago Redlich, Clifford "Pee Wee" Trahan, and Sam.
Recorded by Johnnie Allan.
