FIGURE    Mainstream, corner progression

1 & 3 (2 & 4) go up and back and then slide thru
Square thru 3/4 round
Split the outside two, a line of four go up and back
You turn thru, swing the corner lady right there
You promenade the lady home, now go around the square (long promenade)
4 ladies chain go across that ring, join your hands
Circle left and then you do an allemande left and go allemande thar
You go right and left and the men you star
Shoot the star and do a right & left grand
Get every other girl around with every other hand
Dosado, well promenade that land with that great big bundle of joy
He pops that boogie woogie rag
Chattanooga shoe-shine boy

FIGURE (ALTERNATE)    Mainstream, no progression

1 & 3 (2 & 4) go up and back and then slide thru
Square thru 3/4 round
Split the outside two, a line of four go up and back
You turn thru, swing the corner lady right there
You promenade the lady home, now go around the square (long promenade)
Join your hands circle to the left
Left allemande your corner, grand ol right & left
Hand over hand until you meet your pet, box the gnat
4 ladies promenade inside the set, home you go you do a dosado
Left allemande come back and then you swing your own
Well you promenade around the ring, you roam with this great big bundle of joy
He pops that boogie woogie rag
Chattanooga shoe-shine boy

Chattanooga Shoe Shine Boy  (1950)

Have you ever passed the corner of Fourth and Grand
Where a little ball of rhythm has a shoe shine stand?
People gather 'round and they clap their hands
He's a great big bundle of joy
He pops a boogie woogie rag, the Chattanooga shoe shine boy

He charges you a nickel just to shine one shoe
He makes the oldest kind of leather look like new
You feel as though you want to dance when he gets through
He's a great big bundle of joy
He pops a boogie woogie rag, the Chattanooga shoe shine boy

It's a wonder that the rag don't tear the way he makes it pop
You ought to see him fan the air
With his hoppity hippity hoppity hippity hop-hop-hop!

He opens up for business when the clock strikes nine
He likes to get 'em early when they're feelin' fine
Everybody gets a little rise and shine
From the great big bundle of joy
He pops a boogie woogie rag, the Chattanooga shoe shine boy

It's a wonder that the rag don't tear the way he makes it pop
You ought to see him fan the air
With his hoppity hippity hoppity hippity hop-hop-hop!

He opens up for business when the clock strikes nine
He likes to get 'em early when they're feelin' fine
Everybody gets a little rise and shine
From the great big bundle of joy
He pops a boogie woogie rag, the Chattanooga shoe shine boy

The Chattanooga shoe shine boy

Lyrics by Harry Stone and Jack Stapp.
Recorded by Red Foley; Freddy Cannon; Leon McAuliffe.
