(Formation: Proper contra set, normally 6 couples. All men side-by-side in a line extending down the hall on the caller's right side. Each man faces his partner across the set. Ladies side-by-side in a line on the caller's left side, facing her partner across the set. A distance of about 4 steps separates the lines. For convenience, couples are numbered, with the #1 couple, also called "head" couple, positioned nearest the caller.)

All go forward, bow and come back
All go forward, do it again
Turn the opposite right hand around
Turn the opposite left hand around
Turn the opposite both hands around
All go forward and dosado
Head couple sashay down
Resashay back to place
Same couple reel the set [The head couple now does a right hand turn all the way around until the man faces the #2 (next in line) lady. In this same movement the reeling lady will end facing the #2 man. Each moves directly into a left hand turn with this #2 couple, turning until the reeling couple again faces each other in center of the set. They turn each other with another right hand turn, this time moving to face the next (#3) couple in the line for another left hand turn. Alternating a right turn with the partner in the center and a left turn with each couple down the line, the active couple progresses to end of the line.]
Resashay back to place
Head couple lead, peel, all promenade [When the active couple dancers return to original positions, they will face the caller, all other dancers in the lines will do the same, lining up behind this active head couple. The leading head couple will separate away from each other and move down along the outside of the columns of dancers, all of whom will follow in single file (man behind man, and lady behind lady).]
Heads arch, others sashay through [At foot of the original set, the leading couple will meet, join hands, and make an arch. Each trailing couple will meet in turn, join hands and sashay through the arch, moving towards the caller and taking a new place which will now be 1 position closer to the head position than in the previous sequence (except for the former head (arching) couple who will now be at the foot-end of the line).]

(Dance is normally repeated until all couples have danced in the head position. Depending on length of the line, the record may need to be reset one or more times.)
