Alabama Jubilee Lyrics ID: 1

Mandolins, violins
Hear the darkies tunin' up, the fun begins
Come this way, don't delay
Better hurry, honey dear, or you'll be missin'
Music sweet, ragtime treat
Goes right to your head and trickles to your feet
It's a reminder, a memory finder
Of nights down in old Alabam'

Hear that flute, it's a beaut'
And the tunes it's tootin', Tootsie, ain't they cute?
Let's begin, it's a sin
To be missin' all this syncopated music!
Oh, you Jane, once again
Give your legs some exercise to that refrain
Boy, that's what makes me so dreamy and takes me
Back home to my old Alabam'

Chorus

You ought to see Deacon Jones when he rattles the bones
Old Parson Brown foolin' 'round like a clown
Aunt Jemima, who is past eighty-three
Shouting "I'm full of pep!
Watch yo' step, watch yo' step!"
One-legged Joe danced around on his toe
Threw away his crutch and hollered
"Let her go!"

Oh, honey hail, hail, the gang's all here
For an Alabama Jubilee

Composed by George Cobb.
Lyrics by Jack Yellen.
Recorded by Robert Crumb, Merle Travis, the Skillet Lickers, Chet Atkins, Hank Snow, and many others.

McNamara's Band Lyrics ID: 1979

My name is Macnamara, I'm the Leader of the Band,
And tho' we're small in number we're the best in all the land.
Oh! I am the Conductor, and we often have to play
With all the best musicianers you hear about to-day.

When the drums go bang, the cymbals clang, the horns will blaze away,
MacCarthy puffs the ould bassoon while Doyle the pipes will play;
Oh! Hennessy Tennessy tootles the flute, my word 'tis something grand,
Oh! a credit to Ould Ireland, boys, is Macnamara's Band!

Whenever an election's on, we play on either side-
The way we play our fine ould airs fills Irish hearts with pride.
Oh! if poor Tom Moore was living now, he'd make yez understand
That none could do him justice like ould Macnamara's Band.

When the drums go bang, the cymbals clang, the horns will blaze away,
MacCarthy puffs the ould bassoon while Doyle the pipes will play;
Oh! Hennessy Tennessy tootles the flute, my word 'tis something grand,
Oh! a credit to Ould Ireland, boys, is Macnamara's Band!

We play at wakes and weddings, and at every county ball,
And at any great man's funeral we play the "Dead March in Saul,"
When the Prince of Wales to Ireland came, he shook me by the hand,
And said he'd never heard the like of "Macnamara's Band."

When the drums go bang, the cymbals clang, the horns will blaze away,
MacCarthy puffs the ould bassoon while Doyle the pipes will play;
Oh! Hennessy Tennessy tootles the flute, my word 'tis something grand,
Oh! a credit to Ould Ireland, boys, is Macnamara's Band!

Right now, we are practicing for a very grand affair
It's the annual celebration, all the gentry will be there.
The girls and boys will all turn out with flags and colors grand,
And in front of the procession will be Macnamara's Band.

Composed by Shamus O'Connor.
Lyrics by John J. Stamford.
Recorded by Bing Crosby.
