Neil Whiston was born in 1966 and grew up in Romford, Essex, U.K. Ten years later, he started square dancing with his parents and developed an interest in calling. While he never attended a callers school, he has been calling for 20 years, and is the club caller for the Running Waters & Shooting Stars in Essex. He calls up through A1 and has recorded on the Sting Record label. Once during a square dance vacation in the Caribbean, Neil visited San Juan Squares in San Juan (Puerto Rico) with a 100 dancers. They closed off the main square in the town in order to dance because there were so many people spectating.
