Earl "Foxie" Fox
Square Dance Caller

ID: 1574

Earl

Born October 12, 1925, Earl "Foxie" Fox grew up in Kittanning, PA and was stationed in Long Beach, CA during WWII where he met and married Betty. Friends of theirs invited them to go square dancing. Earl hesitated, but Betty made him go. He obviously liked it as he continued dancing and eventually decided to learn to call as well. He already had a very good tenor voice, and would come home every night after working in the construction business to practice calling to other callers' recordings. Then, he started making his own choreography, moving his stick figures to ensure he placed the dancers properly, and making his own recordings on Windsor as well. Earl and Betty had six boys and one girl. Earl died on November 20, 2014.
