Notes:
  • The dancer's verbal response to Triple Scoot is 'Rooty-toot-Toot'. EN: 40
  • Triple Scoot is really a Grand Scoot Back. Triple Scoot is somewhat of a misnomer in modern square dance terminology. See Grand Follow Your Neighbor [A1] for a discussion of the 'Grand' CONCEPT. EN: 50
  • Historically, Triple Scoot was on the Plus list, but it was dropped and no other list picked it up. Triple Scoot was recently added to the A1 list, at the same time as Grand Follow Your Neighbor, but unfortunately was not renamed to Grand Scoot Back. EN: 60

    We recommend renaming Triple Scoot to Grand Scoot Back. EN: 70

    • It fixes the problem of what to call a Grand Scoot Back from Parallel Columns of 3. To be consistent with the current nomenclature, we must say "Double Scoot" from this formation. It is preferable to use the same words (e.g., Grand Scoot Back) for both the 6-dancer and 8-dancer case. EN: 80

    • If Triple Scoot is renamed to Grand Scoot Back, the following will happen: EN: 90
      1. Callers will start using other "Grand" variations such as "Grand Scoot & Dodge", "Grand Walk & Dodge", etc. Most likely, this will result in the "Grand" concept being added to Advanced in the future. EN: 100
      2. Callers will use "Grand Scoot Back" from formations other than Columns. E.g., From Columns after a 1/2 Circulate & Roll. EN: 110

Scoot Back [Mainstream] (Lee Kopman 1969):
  • From a Mini-Wave Box or applicable T-Bone 2 x 2. Leaders Box Circulate as Trailers Extend, Arm Turn 1/2, & Extend. A Mini-Wave Box ends in a Mini-Wave Box.

  • From a Single 1/4 Tag. Extend; Arm Turn 1/2; & Extend. Ends in a Single 3/4 Tag.

From a 1/4 Box, Mini-Wave Columns, or other applicable formations. The six who can diagonal Pull By using outside hands. A 1/4 Box ends in Mini-Wave Columns; Mini-Wave Columns end in a 3/4 Box. EN: 54

From Mini-Wave Columns. #1 dancer Transfer (Trail Off, Circulate, 1/4 In) as Others 1/2 Circulate and Trade; in the new Center Columns #1 dancer Transfer (Trail Off & Roll) as the others 1/2 Circulate and Hinge; all Extend. Ends in Parallel Waves. EN: 55
