Kirby W. Goode, of Eugene, Oregon, died at his home Monday morning, May 14, 2018. Kirby was born in Portland and lovingly raised by his parents, Delmer Morrison Goode and Gladys Whipple Goode in Corvallis. His parents were professors at OSU, and Kirby followed suite, being a member of Acacia Fraternity and earning degrees in Business and Textiles and later, in Education. He taught mostly in Junction City, Oregon at Central School and Oaklea Middle School and at Wyatt Elementary outside of Harrisburg. He also taught driver's education being with the students in the car. He had many hair-raising stories to share about that. Kirby was head of the math department at the American School in Teheran, Iran for two years in the mid 70's.

Kirby did serve in the army and fought in the Korean War. He was severely injured but finished his tour of duty.

Kirby and his wife, Christina Mori Corelli, learned to square dance in 1981 from Ivan Midlam who called and taught for Danebo Circle 8. Kirby had square danced previously with Independence Wagon Wheelers. He later became the caller and teacher for Danebo Circle 8. He also taught round dancing with Christina who continues to teach. Kirby and Christina were married in 1980.

Kirby enjoyed teaching, calling and dancing square dances. He had a real gift for fine woodworking and made many callers and cuers beautiful record boxes, pens and clipboards. These are keepsakes. He loved to read, and when the Nook first came out he got one for Christmas from Christina. There are literally hundreds of books loaded into one small Nook. Kirby loved to backpack and taught his 7th and 8th graders at Wyatt the basics and took them on numerous weekend backpacking trips. He loved fly fishing and owned some beautiful fly rods hand-strung by his friend Gary Marlatt.

Holidays were spent with his cousin Bob Stalley, his wife Dorothy, and their children and families. We want to thank all of the Stalley family for their love and support. Bob and Dorothy are both gone now too. Gail Stalley (Mark's wife) is the proclaimed 'matriarch' of the Stalley family and works hard to keep the family engaged in holiday gatherings, weddings, funerals, etc. Thank you Gail!

Christina's family has also embraced Kirby into their family. Many summers were spent in Montana with the Mori family and in Washington state with Christina's mother's families. We thank all of them for coming to Eugene to visit with Kirby and to give support and love during this difficult time.

Kirby was a member of the First Christian Church in Junction City and had served as a deacon. He enjoyed going with an elder to the homebound. He especially enjoyed going with elders Francis Kirk and Paul Nordling.

Kirby's son, Toney Allan Goode, died in 1980. Kirby is survived by his wife, Christina Mori Corelli and Meko, the kitty who really runs the household.
