I fiddle and call simultaneously, accompanied by a piano player or a guitarist.
Currently, the regular dances I do each month are in West Newbury, VT (4th Saturdays), and Wentworth, NH (1st Fridays).
I started prompting/calling in 1991, the same year I started to play the fiddle; I also play piano for accompaniment of other fiddlers. My teacher was the late Harold Luce of Chelsea, VT.
Primarily, I like eastern style squares, as you don't need to give a whole lot of instruction, and everyone can participate.
If it isn't fun, why do it?
