The August 2023 Windows Update deletes some system files required by CSDS and SQROT.

• Re-install DOT NET 3.5
  • Download and run dotnetfx35.exe from https://www.ceder.net/csds2/
     
  • Re-boot your computer
   
• Re-install CSDS and/or SQROT
  • Uninstall CSDS and/or SQROT.
    You will not lose any CSDS or SQROT data, as it's stored in a separate folder (the application data folder), and program settings are stored in the windows system registry, neither of which is deleted by the uninstall.
     
  • Download and unzip the latest CSDS and/or SQROT installation file from https://www.ceder.net/csds2/
    E.g., csds2publish310.zip or sqrot2publish568.zip

  • Run setup.exe to install the program.
     
  • Run the CSDS and/or SQROT program.
    If prompted for the 'application data folder' be sure to select the folder where your data is stored. This probably won't happen, as the folder pathname is stored in the registry.
     
  • Upgrade to the latest version by selecting 'System | Auto upgrade program from web' from the main CSDS and/or SQROT menu.

Additional issues:

• Icon improperly displayed
  • If the program icon is no longer properly displayed on the desktop or Windows menu, start the program, and from the main menu, select 'System | Create program shortcut...' followed by 'Create All Shortcuts'.
   
• If you still have issues, you might try
  1. Remove Net Framework 3.5 using "Turn on off Windows Features"
  2. Reboot
  3. Re-install Net Framework 3.5 and add the service pack
  4. Re-install CSDS
