From Parallel Waves or Eight Chain Thru (in which case dancers first step to Parallel Waves).

  1. Arm Turn 1/2;
  2. Center 4 Arm Turn 3/4 as Others 1/2 Circulate;
  3. Wave Of 6 Arm Turn 1/2;
  4. Center Wave Of 4 Arm Turn 1/2 as Others (do a Big) Diamond Circulate;
  5. Wave Of 6 Arm Turn 1/2;
  6. Center Wave Of 4 Arm Turn 3/4 as Others move up.

Ends in Parallel Waves.

Notes:
  • The above definition is worded to facilitate learning the call. In reality, dancers continuously move throughout the call (e.g., the lonesome dancer does not wait for the 'Wave Of 6 Arm Turn 1/2' to complete but continues to move forward).
  • From Parallel Waves, Relay The Deucey is equivalent to Circulate Twice, hence you end up where your diagonal opposite started. That is, you end up on the opposite side of the set, facing the opposite direction, holding the same hand of the dancer with whom you started.
  • Since Relay The Deucey is a long and complicated call, do one of two things before you start moving:

    1. Look where your diagonal opposite is; or
    2. Look at your position within the formation. Determine if you are a Lead End, Trailing End, Lead Center, or Trailing Center.
    Then do the call, stopping when

    1. You reach the position where your diagonal opposite started; or
    2. You once again reach the same relative position as when you started (i.e., you once again respectively become a Lead End, Trailing End, Lead Center, or Trailing Center).
  • Everyone goes into the 'Wave Of 6' exactly one time. After leaving the Wave Of 6, don't try to get back into it!
  • Relay The Deucey can also be loosely viewed as a Grand Spin The Top + Grand Swing Thru + Grand Spin The Top.
