AACE is Disbanded

Be An AACE Supporter

You can help AACE be a better convention.
• Register Early:

Early registration is very important. The hotels that we use to dance in give us a number of rooms that we must fill in order that we use their ballrooms for our dancing. Early registration makes the sponsor hotel treat our program with more respect and often allows us to upgrade your experience with small amenities that we may otherwise not receive. It makes it easier for us to negotiate to get the air on earlier, keep it on longer, and not shut it off till we leave at night.

Early registrations helps the planners to make sure that they have sufficient dance space for each level. None of us want to be in an overcrowded hall. The cost of pre-registration is very small, and I don't think anyone has ever lost any money when pre-registered for any of our dances. If you are unable to attend the dance, your registration can be rolled over to next year.
• Stay at the Convention Hotel:

When a hotel signs a contract with a group for the use of the hotel ballroom space, they estimate how much income they will receive from the sleeping rooms and other activities that the attendees will participate in like the bar, restaurants and any other amenities that the attendees will be spending money on. We are given a cut off date. If we do not fill our required rooms before the cut off date the hotel can stop taking our discounted priced rooms and charge the regular rate and then back charge the dance for the rooms not used. By filling our room quota ahead of the cutoff date we keep the cost of the convention down.
• Buy the Recordings:

When you purchase AACE recordings from Keith Rubow, part of the income is divided among the callers giving them a small bonus for their performance at the dance and their hard work in preparing material for the Convention.
• Distribute Flyers:

Order AACE flyers from Pam and take them to all the advanced and challenge dances and weekends you attend. If you take flyers to events and tell dancers what a good time you had at the AACE Convention, then more dancers will come. More dancers always increases the enthusiasm level of both dancers and callers.
• Offer to Help Next Year:

There are several jobs that need to be done after the unloading and setup of the equipment.

One job is to operate the computers in the dance halls. The more experienced operators we have, the easier it is for all. The computers make the dancing better and it is a hard job for one dancer to do for a weekend. So please volunteer some time and help keep this part of the program running smoothly. Rotation Program Documentation

Another job is to run the singles rotation. Each hall is said to have a singles rotation. We need both dancers and people to handle the rotation. If you are a dancer and your partner needs a rest, sign up for the rotation. If one of you wants to skip a session, let the other sign up as a single for that time. We offer this rotation to allow single dancers to share in our activity. Please allow your partner to help out if only for a tip.
• Volunteer as Wagon Master:

As self sufficient as the campers are, it is still sometimes a chore to get 10 campers to align properly, get the amenities shared, and assure all have a pleasant experience. If you are a camper, offer to take your turn to meet with the facilities personnel and see what their parameters are for our use of their space for camping.
• Add a Link to your Web Site:

If you have a square dance web site, please add a link to the AACE convention. For example,

Academy
for Advanced and Challenge Enthusiasts (AACE)
