National Advanced and Challenge Convention (NACC)

National Advanced and Challenge Convention (NACC)

Most of the information on this page is from the NACC 1999 Program Book (page 13) or from the 2000 registration confirmation form.

General Information
  • The convention will be held Thursday thru Saturday, June 15-17 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin at the Four Points Sheraton Hotel  www.fourpoints.com.
  • Trail-End Dance will be Wednesday, June 14.
  • Caller Showcase Dance will be Thursday morning, June 15.

Four Points Sheraton Hotel
  • All dance halls are in the hotel
  • All dance halls are air-conditioned
  • A-2 hall - tile floor. All other halls are part wood & part carpet, dance on the surface you prefer.
  • Free parking
  • Indoor & outdoor pool
  • Two restaurants
  • Health club on property. Free use of sauna, whirlpool & spa to hotel guests.
  • Special reduced room rate for square dancers.
  • Note: This is the first time in 16 years that all the dance halls have been able to be located within the headquarters hotel. This makes it very convenient for everyone.

In order to achieve this, we have had to guarantee the hotel a large number of sleeping rooms. If we do not meet this room commitment, the Convention could have a severe financial problem.

Other properties in the area raise their rates in June, due to the many festivals in Milwaukee each summer. This means other rates will be close to or higher than the Four Points Sheraton, and our hotel offers far more features than other local properties.

We encourage you to stay at the Four Points Sheraton for your own convenience and to help ensure the success of the Convention.

Dance Schedule
  • Trail-End Dance. This will be held Wednesday night, June 14. All 5 dance halls will be operating, and the dance will be called by Convention Staff Callers. Payment is at the door.
  • Caller Showcase Dance. This will be held Thursday morning, June 15, and will be staffed by callers attending the convention as dancers. All 5 halls will be operating. This dance is open only to those registered for the Convention. There is no additional charge for this dance.
  • Convention Dancing begins Thursday afternoon, June 15, and continues Thursday evening, Friday morning-afternoon-evening, Saturday morning-afternoon-evening.
  • All halls are air-conditioned.
  • Smoking is not permitted in the dance halls.

What to Wear
  • Many dancers prefer informal clothes during the day, and this is fine. However, informal clothes must be in good taste. Square Dance clothes or prairie skirts are preferred for the evening.
  • Trail-End Dance: Informal attire is acceptable.

Campers
  • Yogi Bear Campground
    • 247 sites, fine quality campground
    • Located 8.5 miles from Four Points Hotel, 14 minute drive.
    • Yogi Bear Campground was visited by Ed & Marilyn Foote and is very nice. Most of the drive from the hotel is on a flat rural country road with light traffic, as compared with in-city expressway and city streets for Wisconsin State Fair Park. Facilities at Yogi Bear are far superior to Wisconsin State Fair Park.

Air Travelers
  • Four Points Hotel located next to Milwaukee Airport - served by Delta, TWA, United, US Airways.
  • Free transportation service provided by Four Points Hotel to and from Milwaukee Airport.
  • Note: Chicago's O'Hare Airport is only 74 miles by expressway from the Four Points Sheraton Hotel.
