How to - put SQROT on a computer without internet

  1. Install SQROT onto a computer with internet access.
See How to Download and Install the Square Rotation Program (SQROT)
After installation, run the program so that required files are downloaded from the web.

  2. Copy the application data folder to a USB thumb drive.
By default, the application data folder is C:\SqrotData.
To find this folder, run SQROT and from the main menu, select 'File | Change application data folder'. The name of the folder is shown in the edit box. Open a Windows File Explorer and copy this folder to a USB thumb drive.

  3. Copy the EXE folder to a USB thumb drive.
By default, the EXE folder is located deep within Windows.
To find this folder, run SQROT and from the main menu, select 'Help | About Square Rotation Program (SQROT)'. Press the 'Open EXE Folder' button. Copy all files in this folder to a folder named 'SqrotExe' on the USB thumb drive.

  4. Copy the folders to the destination computer.
Take the USB thumb drive to the destination computer and copy the two folders to the root drive (i.e., C:\SqrotData and C:\SqrotExe).

  5. Configure SQROT on the destination computer.
    1. To run SQROT on the destination computer, open a Windows File Explorer, go into folder C:\SqrotExe and double-click on file 'sqrot.exe' (the filetype is 'Application').
    2. When prompted for the application data folder, enter C:\SqrotData
    3. When prompted for your user key, enter it.
    4. To create shortcuts in appropriate places (e.g., desktop, taskbar, etc.), from the SQROT main menu, select 'File | Create program shortcut...'. I suggest you press the 'All of the Above' button to create as many shortcuts as possible. Depending upon your version of Windows, some shortcuts might not be created.
