Music - Filter Buttons (function keys)

Music Filter Buttons are located near the top of the following windows:

  1. Edit Music Database
  2. Music Database (Load from)
  3. Music Quick List

Pressing a Filter Button immediately filters and sorts the data in the music grid to a preset configuration.

Each filter button has an associated function key (F1 to F10) to quickly invoke the button.

For example, pressing the button (shown above) filters the grid to only show the patter music marked with a rating of 5 (i.e., my favorite patter records).

How to set a Filter Button (the easy way)

Example: Setting F6 button to "Singing Calls"

  1. Enter 'singer' in the Find Panel.

  2. Make sure no other filters are set.

If the lower left portion of the grid has an image similar to the one shown below, click the 'X' button on the left-side to remove the filter.

  3. Sort the grid by Title.

Left-click on the header for the Title column.

  4. Right-click on the button to set, and select 'Set button to current filter'.

You will be prompted to enter a caption for the filter.

How to set a Filter Button (generalized way)

Example: Setting F6 button to "Royal Records", "Singing Calls" with "Rating = 5"

  1. Filter the grid upon the desired criteria. See Grid Filters for more information.

    1. In the column filter for Label, enter 'royal'.

If the column filter is not visible, customize the grid so that the column filter is visible.
Within the 'Panels' panel, make sure 'Column Filters' is checked.

Alternatively, you could type 'royal' into the Find Panel.
Doing this, however, will also include music items that have the word 'royal' as part of their song title.

    2. In the column filter for Genre, enter 'singer'.

    3. In the Rating header, left-click on the little filter icon , and select '5 = Excellent'.

  2. Right-click on the button to set, and select 'Set button to current filter'.

You will be prompted to enter a caption for the filter.

Right-clicking on the button allows other options:
    • If the grid is not sorted by title, you may want to select the 'Sort by Title' option.
    • You may change the background and foreground colors for the button.

Using the Filter Editor

Example: Setting F6 button to be "Royal" or "Chaparral" recordings

  1. Press the 'Editor' button (upper left) to open the grid's Filter Editor.

  2. Set the filter to the state shown below by clicking on items and selecting or typing as appropriate.

Press 'OK' or 'Apply' then close the Filter Editor.

  3. Right-click on the button to set, and select 'Set button to current filter'.

You will be prompted to enter a caption for the filter.
