Snapshot - Fields and Flags

This page describes fields used within a snapshot record.

Snapshot record fields - upper left

• Priority - Priority of the snapshot record.
  The normal version of the call should be marked as 'Normal'.
  If the program has a choice of which snapshot record to use, the 'Normal' version will be used if possible. If not, then the 'T-Bone' version will be used if possible, and finally the 'Same spot' version will be used. This differention is necessary for calls involving Phantom dancers. Dancers expect a Phantom call to be a normal version of the call, or occasionally a T-Bone version, but never expect to crash (end on the same spot) with a Phantom.
  The priority field of a snapshot record indicates how 'normal' or 'abnormal' the call usage is.
  The priority field is used only when determining how to execute calls from phantom formations. If more than one snapshot record could be executed from the current phantom position, the program selects the record with the 'highest' priority.

  The values for the priority field has been somewhat arbitrarily defined as follows:

  highest priority: Normal

  medium priority: T-Bone

  lowest priority: Same-spot

  1. If the call ends such that some dancers share the same spot, set the priority to 'Same spot'.
      
  2. Otherwise, If the call starts from a T-Bone setup (or, from an usual setup, such as Pass Thru from a R-H Mini-Wave), then set the priority field to 'T-Bone'.
      
  3. Otherwise, the default value of 'Normal' should be used.
   
• Beats - Minimum and maximum number of beats to dance the call. This field is currently not used by CSDS.
   
• Tag - An optional comment (up to 40 characters) that can be searched via the 'Find a record' function.

Snapshot record flags - upper right

• Private - marks the snapshot record as private.
  If you have a really cool choreo idea that you do not wish to share, if you ever share your snapshots with another user, set the Private checkbox.
  This field can be filtered upon for functions such as Snapshot | Export | Type of records to export.
   
• Protected - Snapshot record can not be deleted.
  When checked, the program will not allow the snapshot record to be deleted.
   
• No Fuzzy - Snapshot record will not be used in fuzzy matching.
  When checked, the program will not allow fuzzy matching to execute the snapshot. That is, starting formation footprints must exactly match those in the snapshot record.
  This prevents calls from Diamonds, for example, from being done incorrectly.
   
• Non-Standard - Call usage is non-standard. Snapshot record will not be used when generating getouts.
  In the future, a warning message will be displayed when the snapshot is used within a sequence.
   
• Bef Circular - the before position will be displayed as circular, if possible. Used for calls such as Circle Left|Right and Alamo Rings.

• Aft Circular - the after position will be displayed as circular, if possible. Used for calls such as left allemande and right & left grand, where the after position is circular,

Snapshot record flags - lower right

A grey background and bold text indictaes the flag is set.

Asymmetric - snapshot record is asymmetric.

 

Hex squares - Snapshot record is for hex choreography.

 

Resolve - Snapshot record is a resolve such as Allemande Left, Right & Left Grand, Promenade Home, etc.

 

Getout generated - Snapshot record was used in generating getouts via the CSDS main menu option 'Getin/Getout - Generate Getouts from Snapshots'.

 

Mirror same - Snapshot record is is the same as it's mirror image.

 

Sex-dependent - Snapshot record is sex-depenent. I.e., a sex-dependent call such as Slide Thru, or the call explicitly references Boys or Girls.
