Global Database

The Global Database is a list of dancers and preferences maintained at www.ceder.net.

The Global Database only contains the dancer's first name, last name, country, state, role, preferred role, ok with single, partner ID, and a level tag (i.e., Plus, A1, etc.).

The Global Database does not contain any personal information such as address, phone number, etc.

Each dancer in the Global Database has a unique Global ID, so that the dancer's same barcode can used on any SQROT program onto which the Global Database has been downloaded.

The Global Database can be accessed from the Main Window via menu option 'File | Global Database'.

Data from the Global Database can be copied into the Dancer Table via the Dancer Table window by menu option 'Global Database | Add Dancers from Global Database to Dancer Table'. Dancers can then be added from the Dancer Table to any current rotation.

Only the ceder.net database administrator can make changes to the Global Database. The Global Database currently contains data for sets of dancers such as SoCal dancers, TEXPACC dancers, and dances organized by Debbie Ceder.

How to Update the Global Database:

  • Request changes to the Global Database:

    1. Open the Dancer Table window.

    2. Select dancers to update (i.e., highlight dancers within the grid).

    3. Select menu option 'Global Database | Upload Selected Dancer(s) to Global Database'.
      • Data is uploaded to ceder.net and a message is sent to Vic Ceder to process the data.
      • Please be patient, as it may take a couple of days to be processed.

  • After the data has been processed, update your database:

    1. Open the Global Database (from main window, select 'File | Global Database').

      • The Global Database is downloaded from ceder.net, replacing your copy of the Global Database.

    3. Select menu option 'File | Local IDs to Global IDs'.
      • The Global ID, if found, is added for all dancers in your local Dancer Table.
