How to - Update CSDS after recent Callerlab List Changes

This page describes how to upgrade CSDS and data due to the recent Callerlab list changes.

1) Upgrade CSDS to version 3.70 or beyond

2) Re-parse GETINs, GETOUTs, and sequence databases

  • GETIN and GETOUT databases:
    1. From the CSDS main menu, select 'Parse | Several getins/getouts'.
      1. Select GETIN.
      2. Make sure 'process previously proofread records' is checked.
      3. Start Index and End Index should be the same as Index Range.
      4. Press the OK button.
      5. Wait for completion.
      6. The 'Parse database GETIN' results box is displayed. Take note of any issues, if you wish to fix them later. Close the results box.
    2. From the CSDS main menu, select 'Getin/Getout | Sort a database'.
      1. Select GETIN.
      2. Press the OK button.
      3. For Save original GETIN database as a backup, press either the Yes or No button.
      4. Wait for completion.
      5. Close the sort results message box.
Repeat the above steps for the GETOUT database.

  • Sequence databases:
    1. From the CSDS main menu, select 'Parse | All sequence databases'.
    2. For Starting at... dialog box, press the 'All Databases' button.
    3. The 'Parse All Sequences' dialog box is displayed. Leave all fields as defaulted, and press the OK button.
    4. You may receive one or more Maximum level not set message boxes.
This indicates that the level for the database is no longer valid (e.g., Basic is no longer a level). Press the Yes button to edit the database properties, and select an appropriate level (such as MSV).

3) Move out-of-range sequences to another database

After upgrading and re-parsing, there will probably be several Mainstream sequences that are now Plus sequences, and vice-versa.

The following steps show how to move sequences from a Mainstream database that are now Plus into a Plus database.

  • From the CSDS main menu, select 'Sequence | Move | Out-of range sequences from one database to another'.
  • The 'Select Source Sequence Database' dialog box is displayed.
  • Select the database from which to move sequences, then press the OK button.
I selected sequence database MSS, which contains my Mainstream singing call figures.
  • The program scans the selected sequence database to find all sequences not at the level specified within the database.
  • The 'Find several sequences - results' window is displayed.
  • Look at column 'Level', then select all rows where the level is 'PL', then press the 'Move to another database' button (located in the lower right) or right-click within the selected region and select 'Move to another database'.
  • The 'Select Sequence Destination Database' window is displayed.
  • Select the destination database then press the 'OK' button.
I selected PLS, which contains my Plus singing call figures.
  • A confirmation prompt is displayed. Press 'Yes' to move the sequences.
  • After sequences are moved, the results grid is refreshed. All sequences are still listed, but column 'Sequence' now shows the new sequence IDs for the moved sequences.
  • Repeat the above steps to move additional sequences around as necessary.
