Ceder Square Dance System (CSDS) ==> Cue sheets

cue sheet confusion #2
I also don't understand how the cue sheets work. Right now I'm copying the record sleeves on a scanner and saving them in a "bmp" format, and "Windows Picture and Fax Viewer" is opening them. I've also saved some as doc files in "Word", and they are smaller(in KB's, while the picture viewer is in MB's), but as you told me before, they take awhile to open. I know you say to download the cue sheets from your site, but I don't understand how to set it up after download. Also a lot of the songs I use aren't on it. I guess I don't understand how to link the cue sheets to the songs(words) on your cue sheet data base. If all the songs are in ONE file, how do I link each mp3 to only the words for that one mp3. I would think it would bring up the words for all the songs, if they're all in the same file. Do you understand what I'm saying? I understand how to use a filing system pretty good, but can't figure out how this works.

To use cue sheets in CSDS, you should be in (call from) the 'Dance | Call from Screen' portion of the program. This part of the program allows full access (single key strokes) to the music player as well as to the cue sheet, lists of calls, and sequences.

Although cue sheets may be in almost any format, for optimal use within CSDS, cue sheets should be in RTF (Rich Text Format), HTML (Hypertext Markup Language), or TXT (Text) format. I suggest that you save your 'MS Word' cue sheet files in .rtf or .html format instead of .doc format.

Each cue sheet needs to be associated with a piece of music. Use the 'Cue Sheet' field of the Music Database to do this.

To download cue sheets from our web site, you need to download the file, then have CSDS process the file to create the cue sheets.

The procedure is as follows:

  1. Download a set of cue sheets for CSDS from http://www.ceder.net/recorddb/csds_download.php
  2. Save the downloaded file on your hard drive (in a known location)
  3. Run CSDS
    1. Get into 'Music | Edit Music Database';
    2. Select 'Edit | Upgrade Cue Sheets from Web...'
    3. For the 'Source file', browse to the downloaded file.
    4. For the 'Destination folder', select a folder in which the generated cue sheets are to be placed.
    5. Press the 'OK' button to generate cue sheets and associate them with entries in the Music Database.
    6. Exit and Save changes to the Music Database.

Note: the above procedure will create and associate a cue sheet with all music database entries in which the 'Label' and 'Label #' fields match the data within the downloaded file. Therefore, you must have properly specified the 'Label' and 'Label #' fields for all entries in the Music Database. The 'Label #' fields should not contain the 'record side' (A or B) indicator -- for example, Rockin' In Rosalies Boat should be label="Chaparral", label#="202" (the label# should not be "202B" for side B of the record). If you have a song for which we do not have the cuesheet in our web-based Record Database, please send it to Debbie and she will add it.
