Tally-Ho [C1]
   (Paul McNutt 1978)

From Parallel Waves, applicable Parallel Lines, Trade By, applicable 2 x 4 T-Bones, or other applicable formations.

1/2 Circulate; those in the resulting Center Line|Wave Hinge & 1/2 Box Circulate as the Others Trade; those who meet Cast Off 3/4 as the Others move up (Phantom Hourglass Circulate).

Ends in Parallel Lines|Waves (or a Parallelogram if dancers end on the same spot).

Notes:
  • The Hinge can be either a Single Hinge (Arm Turn 1/4) or a Partner Hinge.
  • The Trade can be either an Arm Turn 1/2 or a Partner Trade (from a Couple). When starting from Parallel Two-Faced Lines, a common dancer mistake is for the Outsides to Hinge twice instead of Partner Trade.
  • The Cast Off 3/4 can be either an Arm Turn 3/4 or a 'Push'-style Cast Off 3/4.
  • Be very careful and precise when doing Tally-Ho since there are a large number of possible starting formations.
  • Do the 1/2 Circulate and then look around to see if you are in the Center Line! Don't assume that if you start facing out you will be doing the Outsides' part!
  • Teamwork is often required to successfully complete this call.

Tally-Ho But anything [NOL]: Do a Tally-Ho but replace the Centers Cast Off 3/4 with the Centers doing the anything call.

Note: When doing a Circulate from Parallel Inverted Lines, the Center 4 are in the inside Circulate path whereas the Outer 4 are in the outside Circulate path. After a 1/2 Circulate from Inverted Lines, the Center 4 always end up in the Center Wave! From Parallel Inverted Lines with the Centers facing out, dancers often get tricked into thinking the Outer 4 become the Centers after a 1/2 Circulate.
