Stretch Concepts For Most of Us
There are three Stretch concepts; Stretch itself, Stretched Box ans Stretched Line/Wave. Each of these concepts has its own rules and strategies for dancing. Some of the dancing strategies are applicable to more than one of these concepts.
Stretch Concept Calls

Stretch concept calls are 4 dncer calls in which the call is done normally and then the centers of each resulting formation move past each other along the long axis of the formation. Each pair of dancers in the original formation now has another dancer between them along the axis of the formation.

This statement appears to have different meanings for different classes of calls as follows:

Final Formation
Who Moves
Parallel Lines/Waves Centers of each Line/Wave Slither at end of call
Parallel Columns Centers of each Column Substitute at end of call
Normal diamonds Centers of center wave
Tidal Formations Center couples Slide past each other
1/4 or 3/4 Tag Very centers of center Line/Wave Slither
H Formation Very centers of center Line/Wave Slither

For the 1/4 Tag, 3/4 Tag and H Formations, the line/wave in the center of the formation is the long axis of the formation.

It is also necessary to know where the long axis of the formation is. The long axis is obvious for parallel lines/waves/columns. Normal and point-to-point diamonds are pretty obvious, too. The problem comes in triple parallel line-type formations, 1/4, 3/4 tags and H formations. There may be other formations as well but these are in common use thru C3A.
