two columns

OPENER    Basic - SSD Week 4

Sides face grand square
Sometimes my soul gets weary and my mind begins to wander
Like that old train, a hummin' bird, it's gone to Alabam'
They say home is where the heart is and mine's down in Dixie
Let's all go to Dixie, let's...
circle to the left and then
Southern rain goin' from the coast to Mississippi
Left allemande, promenade on home
*I can't dip in the Jordan seven times to ease the pain
But I can pray for help and hope from Southern rain

FIGURE    Basic - SSD Week 10, corner progression

Four ladies chain straight across the ring
Head (side) couples promenade go halfway round I sing
You lead to the right, circle, make a line for me
Rock up the middle and a come right back, star thru you see
Pass thru, trade by, pass thru, swing the corner
Left allemande new corner girl and promenade
*I can't dip in the Jordan seven times to ease the pain
But I can pray for help and hope from Southern rain

MIDDLE BREAK - CLOSER

Four ladies promenade get a walkin' round the ring
Get back home and swing the partner, everybody swing
All join hands, circle round the land and then
Allemande left the corner, weave around the ring
Southern rain is like a blessing sent from heaven
You swing the partner then you promenade on home
*I can't dip in the Jordan seven times to ease the pain
But I can pray for help and hope from Southern rain

ALTERNATE LYRICS

*You may call me crazy, you may say I'm insane
But I can pray for help and hope from Southern rain
