The Unicorn Song
Irish Rovers 1968
  (Miracle 249)   Fred Walker

two columns

OPENER    Basic - SSD Week 4

Sides face, grand square
Well a long time ago when the earth was green
And there was more kinds of animals than we've ever seen
They'd run around free while the earth was being born
And the loveliest of all was the Unicorn

Circle left
Green alligators and long necked geese
Left allemande your corner, weave the ring for me
Some cats and rats and elephants, but sure as you're born
The loveliest of them all was the Unicorn

FIGURE    Mainstream, corner progression

Heads (Sides) promenade travel halfway son
Down the middle pass thru, separate round one
Squeeze in make me lines, go forward and back
Center two a right & left thru, rollaway like that
Normal lines of four pass thru, partner trade, now slide thru once
Swing, promenade
We got cats and rats and elephants, but sure as you're born
The loveliest of all is the Unicorn

MIDDLE BREAK    Basic - SSD Week 4

Sides face, grand square
Now God seen some sinning and it gave Him pain
He said, "Stand back fellas, I'm going to make it rain."
He said, "Hey Brother Noah, I'll tell you what to do
Build me a floating zoo"

Circle left
And take some green alligators and long necked geese
Left allemande your corner, weave the ring for me
Some cats and rats and elephants, but sure as you're born
Don't you forget my Unicorn

CLOSER    Basic - SSD Week 4

Sides face, grand square
Old Noah was there to answer the call
He finished making the ark just as the rain started to fall
He marched in the animals two by two
And called them out as they went through

Circle left
I got your green alligators and long necked geese
Left allemande your corner, weave the ring for me
Some cats and rats and elephants, but Lord I'm so forlorn
I just can't see no Unicorn

TAG

Let's bow to the partner and the corner too
You're through
