two columns

OPENER    Basic - SSD Week 4

Sides face grand square
Thank you very much! Thank you very much!
That's the nicest thing that anyone's ever done for me
It sounds a bit bizarre, the things the way they are

Left allemande your corner and then you weave that ring
And if I had a flag I would wave it!
Dosado and promenade your lady home
But since I left my flag at home, I'll simply have to say
Thank you very, very, very much

FIGURE    Mainstream, corner progression

Heads (sides) promenade go halfway round the ring
Now the Sides (heads) right & left thru and turn the girl for me
Square thru you go four hands ya know
Dosado your corner do an eight chain four
* And if I had a bugle I would blow it! (Bugle Toots)
Swing your corner and promenade her home
**But since I left my bugle at home I'll simply have to say
Thank you very, very, very much

ALTERNATE LYRICS

* And if I had a drum I'd have to bang it! (Bass drum thumps)

* And if I had a cannon I would fire it! (Cannon Boom)

* And if I had a bell I'd have to clang it! (Bell Clang)

**But since I left my (drum, cannon, bell) at home

Thank you very much! Thank you very much!

CLOSER    Basic - SSD Week 4

Sides face grand square
Thank you very much! Thank you very much!
That's the nicest thing that anyone's ever done for me
The future looks alright, in fact it looks so bright

Left allemande your corner and then you weave that ring
And if I had a flag I would wave it!
Dosado and promenade your lady home
But since I left my flag at home I'll simply have to say
Thank you very, very, very much

TAG (slower)

Thank you very, very, very much

Notes: 1. The original Flag verse said "And if I had a Flag I'd let my flag out" which was changed because it did not sound right and may be mistaken for a slur. 2. The original did not mention "Bell" but was put in for balance. 3. The original they sometimes used "me" instead of "my" as in "But since I left me Cannon at home" - feel free to use it too if you want to give it a more old English sound.
