Copper Kettle

two columns

OPENER - MIDDLE BREAK - CLOSER

Everyone face your partner, *grand que
Get out that old copper kettle
Get out that old copper coil
Cover it with new made corn mash
Never no more you will toil
Just lay beneath that old juniper tree
While that moon whines bright
Watching those jugs a fillin'
In the pale moonlight

FIGURE    Mainstream, corner progression

Four ladies chain across that ring now
Turn and chain those ladies home again
1 & 3 flutter wheel full around
Slide thru, pass thru, then a right & left thru my friend
Why don't you swing thru and now you're gonna turn thru
Swing that corner, promenade
Promenade along with the villain
In that pale moonlight

(*Grand Que: From a squared up set and on the command to Grand Que, all 4 couples
face their own partner and do a dosado then curlique. This puts the men facing out
and the girls facing in. Without stopping the girls star left 3/4 as men promenade
the outside 1/4 where they meet their original partner. All dancers are now 1/4
to left of home position and routine is 1/4 finished. Partners dosado and curlique.
This time men star left in middle 3/4, girls promenade right 1/4 around outside.
You're 1/2 way home now. Entire action is repeated until all home again.)
