one column

OPENER - MIDDLE BREAK - CLOSER    Basic

4 ladies chain across tonight while the moon is shining bright
Chain back to my old Kentucky home
Circle left and by and by, hard times knockin' on the door
Left allemande, to the partner bow, then weave around the ring
Singing weep no more my ladies
Partners swing and then you promenade
And we'll sing one song for my old Kentucky home
For my old Kentucky home far away

FIGURE    Basic, no progression

Head couples promenade halfway, sides a right & left thru I say (backaway)
Heads lead right, circle 4 and make a line
Forward 8 and back you reel, pass thru, then wheel & deal
Center 4 swing thru, box the gnat and pull on by
Left allemande, go home, dosado around your own
Corners swing and then you promenade
And we'll sing one song for my old Kentucky home
For my old Kentucky home far away

FIGURE (ALTERNATE)

Heads go right & left thru by 2s, turn the girl and then star thru
Pass thru, split 2, around 1, and make a line for me
Forward 8, 8 fall back, box the gnat and pull on by
Left allemande, go home and dosado and to the corner swing
All 4 ladies promenade inside the big old ring
Partners box the gnat, and then let's promenade
And we'll sing one song for my old Kentucky home
For my old Kentucky home far away
