Notes:
  • Star Thru:
From Opposite-Sex Facing Dancers. Boys use Right-hand palm forward as Girls use Left-hand palm forward. Touch hands palm-to-palm, walk forward into the other dancer's starting position, Girl turning under the arch 1/4 to the Left, as Boys turn 1/4 to the Right. Ends in a Couple. EN: 30

    Mirror Star Thru:

Do the mirror image of a Star Thru. That is... From Opposite-Sex Facing Dancers. Boys use Left-hand palm forward as Girls use Right-hand palm forward. Touch hands palm-to-palm, walk forward into the other dancer's starting position, Girl turning under the arch 1/4 to the Right, as Boys turn 1/4 to the Left. Ends in a Couple. EN: 40
  • On both Star Thru and Mirror Star Thru, the Girl goes under the arch. EN: 50
  • Star Thru, Mirror Star Thru, and Double Star Thru are sex-dependent calls. That is, Boys always do one thing as Girls always do another. The call is dependent upon your sex, not your position as a Beau or a Belle. EN: 60
  • After each part of Double Star Thru, you end as a Couple with the dancer you were facing. EN: 70
  • Double Star Thru is choreographically equivalent to Cross Trail Thru. At the end of the call, you are facing the same direction as when you started the call. EN: 80
  • An alternate way to think about Double Star Thru: do a regular Star Thru, then change hands and do a 'wrong hand' Star Thru. EN: 90
  • Alternate hands: first use the inside hand, then use the outside hand. EN: 100
  • After you become proficient at Double Star Thru, you can use light hand taps instead of making a large arch. Most experienced Advanced-level dancers dance the call this way. They don't raise their hands much at all - they just lightly tap the appropriate hands while dancing each part. While this may make the call easier to execute in realtime on the dance floor, we suggest that until you are proficient at the call, always do the entire arching movement. EN: 110
  • Mirror Star Thru has historically been called Left Star Thru. Unfortunately, the term Left Star Thru is confusing since the Girl uses the Right-hand. EN: 120

CONTRAST THE FOLLOWING

(from normal Facing Couples): EN: 130
  • Double Star Thru:
    Star Thru; Mirror Star Thru.
  • Star Thru Double:
    Star Thru; Star Thru.

Triple Star Thru [A1]:
From applicable formations (usually a Starting Double Pass Thru in which the Center Couples are normal and the Outside Couples are Half-Sashayed). Those who can Star Thru; those who can Mirror Star Thru; those who can Star Thru. The aforementioned Starting Double Pass Thru formation ends in Back-to-Back Lines. EN: 49
