Counter Rotate cannot be done if a dancer is facing directly toward (or away from) the flagpole center of the set. EN: 30

You can try visualizing Counter Rotate 1/4 as if all of a sudden the formation was placed upon an empty merry-go-round, with the center of the square being the center of the merry-go-round, and somebody pushed the merry-go-round 1/4 of a circle (clockwise or counter-clockwise, whichever would cause you to move forward). Your formation would remain the same, you would still be the same distance from the Center, but your facing direction would have changed 90°. Note that some dancers might be on a merry-go-round which is turning in the opposite direction from yours. EN: 70

Du kannst versuchen, Dir Counter Rotate 1/4 optisch vorzustellen, wie wenn plötzlich die Formation auf ein leeres Karussell gesetzt wird, wobei der Mittelpunkt des Square auf den Mittelpunkt des Karussells kommt. Jetzt dreht jemand das Karussell um eine 1/4 Umdrehung (im Uhrzeigersinn, oder gegen den Uhrzeigersinn, und zwar so, daß Du Dich vorwärts bewegst). Deine Formation wird dieselbe bleiben, Du wirst immer noch im gleichen Abstand vom Mittelpunkt sein, aber Deine Blickrichtung hat sich um 90° gedreht. Beachte, daß einige Tänzer auf einem Karussell sein könnten, das sich gerade entgegengesetzt dreht wie Deines. DE: 70

Split the formation into 2 equal sub-formations by drawing an imaginary line bisecting the long axis. Dancers in each sub-formation walk forward in an arc for a total of fraction of a circle, around the flagpole center of the sub-formation, keeping the same distance from the center of their sub-formation. From Parallel Lines or Columns work in each Box; from Diamonds work in each Diamond; from a 1 x 8 Line work in each Line. EN: 632
