Getin/Getout -- Add/Edit Record

Figure 3.1 shows the Add/Edit Getin/Getout Record window. This window allows you to create a new getin/getout record or edit the contents of an existing record.

Perm # is a text string uniquely identifying the current formation, dancer location, and dancer facing directions. The perm number consists of 5 tokens delimited by hypens ("-"). The first token is a letter ("A" through "Z") specifying the formation (see Formation below). Each remaining token is a 3-character string specifying the dancer in one of the positions "A", "C", "E", or "Y" (token #2 specifies the dancer in position "A"; token #3 specifies the dancer in position "C"; token #4 specifies the dancer in position "E"; and token #5 specifies the dancer in position "Y").

Tokens #2 through #5 are defined as follows:

  1. The first character of the token is the couple number (1 through 4).
  2. The second character is the sex ("M" for man, "L" for lady. Alternatively, when editing the field, "B" for boy, "G" for girl, "M" for male, "F" for female).
  3. The third character is the facing direction ("U" for up, "D" for down, "R" for right, "L" for left. Alternatively, when editing the field, "N" for north, "S" for south, "E" for east, "W" for west).

When entering a value within the Perm # field, the hypens ("-") do not need to be typed.

Formation is a fixed set of spots. There are 26 possible formations. Additional formations can not be added. These predefined formations are:

A: Tidal Setup (1x8)

B: Columns/Lines (2x4)

C: 1/4 Tag-setup

D: Twin Diamonds

E: "O"/Alamo Ring

F: Butterfly

G: Galaxy

H: Hourglass

I: Thar/Promenade

J: Pt-to-Pt Diamonds

K: "H"

L: "I"

M: Column Circ 1 & 1/2

N: Parallelogram \

O: Parallelogram /

P: 12-Matrix Offset \

Q: 12-Matrix Offset /

R: 16-Matrix Offset

S: Blocks \

T: Blocks /

U: C-1 Phantom #1

V: C-1 Phantom #2

W: Acey Deucey 1 & 1/2

X: Phantom Tandem \

Y: Phantom Tandem /

Z: O.R. Diamonds

Choreo symbol is a Callerlab/Bill Davis-style choreo symbol.

The format of the choreo symbol is <A><F><S><R> where

<A> is the arrangement number

0 or null = normal pairing

1/2 = all half sashayed

3 = reference pairs normal, others half sashayed

4 = reference pairs half sashayed, others normal

<F> is the formation indicator

B = Eight Chain Thru (reference pair = "A" and "C")

F = Parallel R-H Two-Faced Lines (reference pair = "E" and "Y")

L = Facing Lines (reference pair = "E" and "Y")

W = Parallel R-H Waves (reference pair = "E" and "Y")

P = Double Pass Thru (reference pair = "A" and "E")

Q = R-H 1/4 Tag (reference pair = "E" and "Y")

Formations C, T, D, LW, LF, and LC have not been implemented.

<S> is the sequence state number

1 = Men IN sequence, Ladies IN sequence

2 = Men OUT of sequence, Ladies OUT of sequence

3 = Men IN sequence, Ladies OUT of sequence

4 = Men OUT of sequence, Ladies IN sequence

<R> is the relationship indicator

p = reference man with partner

r = reference man with R-H lady

o = reference man with opposite lady

c = reference man with corner

Since the Choreo symbol can not adequately describe all possibilities for a given formation, we suggest that you use the Perm # notation instead. The Choreo symbol is only added for the convenience of those who already know and use it.

[dancer icons] show the locations and facing directions of dancers within the current formation.

To exchange two dancers:

  1. Click the left-button of the mouse on the first dancer;
  2. Click the left-button of the mouse on the second dancer.

To change the facing direction of a dancer:

If option flag Use pop-up menu for facing directions is checked:

  1. Click the right-button of the mouse upon the dancer icon to be changed
  2. Select the new facing direction from the pop-up menu.

If option flag Use pop-up menu for facing directions is not checked:

  1. Position the mouse pointer so that the tip of the arrow is on the dancer icon at the position where the new nose is desired;
  2. Click the right-button of the mouse.

Private record, when checked, marks the current getin/getout record as private (meaning you don't want anyone else to use it).

Text contains the text (square dance calls) of the record. For a getin record, the calls should start from a static set and should end in the displayed formation. For a getout record, executing the given calls starting from the displayed formation should result in a valid resolve (the last line of text should be a resolve such as Right & Left Grand, Left Allemande, Promenade Home, etc.)

Previous text (F1) replaces the text field with the text from the previously edited getin/getout record. This feature is useful when you are adding several records with similar text.

Use count contains the number of times that the record was used within sequences. The use count must be between 0 and 32767 inclusive.

Quickie count contains the number of times that the record was used within opening biggie sequences. The quickie count must be between 0 and 32767 inclusive. Incrementing the quickie count of the getin/getout record does not change the Level used at field.

Level used at contains the level at which the sequence was last used. That is, this field contains the level that was selected the last time the use count was incremented.

Save edits saves the contents of the record, sets the proofread status of the record to 'NO' (since the record has been modified), and closes this window. Note that if the record was originally within the sorted region of the database and the perm number was changed, then the original record is marked as deleted and a new record is added to the end of the database.

Cancel edits (Esc) cancels any edits made, and closes this window.
