Figure 3.4 shows the Breakup Database window. This window is applicable to getin/getout databases or the snapshot database. This window allows you to copy records from the given database and place them in one or more output files whose size can be limited to a specified number of records. These files can be copied onto floppies for backup purposes or for distribution to other callers.

The output files are named XXX.n where 'XXX' is the name of the database, and 'n' is a incremental number (i.e., the first file will be named XXX.1, the second will be named XXX.2, and so on). The output files are placed on the selected output disk within the selected output folder.

Diskette restrictions is a table showing the maximum number of records that can fit on a standard floppy diskettes.

Records in range is the total number of records that will be output.

Records per output file is the number of records per output file. The last output file created may contain fewer records.

Options

  • Skip private records, when checked, does not include private records when writing to the output file. When not checked, private records are written to the output file. (This option is applicable only to the snapshot database).
  • Skip deleted records, when checked, does not include records marked as deleted when writing to the output file. When not checked, records marked as deleted are written to the output file. (This option is applicable only to the snapshot database since the method for selecting records from the getin/getout database (Section 3.1.1 and 3.1.2) has a Skip deleted records option.)
  • Clear 'use' fields, when checked, causes records within the output file to have their use count, quickie count, and date fields set to zero. (This option is applicable only to Getin/Getout databases).

Output disk specifies the destination disk drive.

Output folder specifies the destination folder.

OK starts the breakup process. An 'in progress' box is displayed while the breakup is in progress, and a 'breakup complete' dialog box is displayed upon completion.

Cancel closes this window.
